Hello

As many of you are likely aware, Alberta has a shortage of Veterinarians. Our clinic has not escaped this situation. Unfortunately for us, Dr. Tara Zachar is going to be leaving our clinic at the end of November.  We would like to take the time to thank her for her time, dedication, skill and hard work and we genuinely wish her the best in her future endeavors.

With that being said we are now at a point where we cannot continue to offer certain services. The main changes will be to our after-hours services and our weekends.

After-hours services will no longer include in-person consults but we will continue to have over-the-phone consultations available with our partnership with Animal Health Link which provides licensed animal health professionals who will discuss your concern about your pet and help you best decide if a trip to an emergency clinic is needed or if at home monitoring should be fine. They also have the ability to help with certain prescription questions that may arise.

We will no longer be able to be open for appointments on Saturdays. However, because we know how difficult it can be to make it to the clinic around your own busy work schedule we have opened up Wednesday morning from 7 am to 9 am for appointments and hope to be able to expand this to more weekdays in the New Year.

Being closed on Saturdays may impact your ability to pick up supplies, and food for your pets.  Our pet store and shelter will remain open and can assist you with those needs.  We also have an online store that can direct ship to your home food and supplies.  We are currently updating that site to better serve you as well.

As it is not our intent to leave you without planned Veterinary care, we will be implementing these changes starting January 3rd, 2023 to allow sufficient time for you to discuss your needs with another veterinary clinic if needed.

Some more positive change we will be implementing is that we will once again be offering RVT appointments. An experienced Registered Veterinary Technologist will be available for appointments most weekdays. They will be able to see your pet for many services, including:

  • Routine vaccinations for pets with no medical concern
  • Urine re-checks, ear re-checks
  • Injections such as cartrophen, and cytopoint.
  • Nail trims and anal gland expressions.
  • Weight loss consults and follow-ups.

We also will be having a groomer in the clinic roughly once a week, to accommodate needs such as:

  • Lion clips
  • Bathing and blowouts
  • Sanitary trims

For after-hours emergencies we will be recommending:

Exotic Veterinarians we will be recommending:

We truly enjoy being the preferred clinic for so many, which is why it has been difficult for us to make these decisions. In that spirit, we ask that you respect our decision and ensure that you have some open discussions and plan for emergency after-hours care.

Thank you for your patronage,
