Starting August 1st the travel requirements will change slightly for dogs travelling across the USA border from Canada.
In short your dog must meet the following requirements:
- Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival.
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old at time of entry or return to the U.S.
- Dogs must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them.
You will also have to fill out on online form for the CDC – Dog Import Form
If your dog has been in any country outside of Canada and the USA in the past 6 months they may need to meet additional requirements. To see if your dog has been in a country that has further requirements please see the following link – High Risk Rabies Countries
